About the Book Editing & Publishing Track

The Book Editing & Publishing track is ideal for Writing or English majors, aspiring authors, editors, content creators, or those interested in marketing. Interns will work directly with published authors working on their latest books or publishing projects. Currently, this track works with Jared Kennedy of Gospel-Centered Family and Timothy Paul Jones (see biographies below). Editing projects will focus on non-fiction writing and includes anything from full-volume books to training guides to blog posts. Past projects have covered topics such as racial reconciliation, the enneagram from a Christian perspective, VBS materials, church planting training materials, and articles for Christian publishing companies. This position is primarily based out of the offices of Sojourn Midtown, where Jared Kennedy and Timothy Paul Jones are pastors.

Role of Book Editing Assistant:

The Book Editing Assistant will work with Jared Kennedy on various copyediting, writing, and marketing projects. The intern will also assist in podcast production, writing show notes, scripting, and journalistic research. Individuals should have experience with English writing and editing. This is a great role for someone who is pursuing a career in writing, editing, or content creation, who is a self-starter and gives attention to detail.

 

Responsibilities of Book Editing Assistant:

  • Editing discipleship materials
  • Editing blogs, newsletters, and podcast scripts and show notes
  • Editing and creating social media and other marketing materials 
  • Planning new writing projects from inception 
  • Opportunity to create and submit your own blog posts and articles

 

The above description is 50% of the LTN program.
