About BsideU for Life:
BsideU For Life is committed to presenting the gospel in word and in deed by educating women facing crisis pregnancies, responding to their needs, and protecting the lives of unborn children. They are committed to providing women with an open heart, an open mind, and an open ear to listen in order to respond to their needs.
They offer a comprehensive continuum of care: At BsideU for Life, women can receive pregnancy tests and ultrasounds, STI testing, and treatment, pregnancy options counseling and post-abortion counseling, and educational and equipping resources. Their Life Skills Program equips mothers and their children to live godly and productive lives by providing biblical discipleship and by teaching practical living skills (including GED, health and wellness, personal finance, and parenting classes). Their goal is to provide a safe and emotionally supportive place for women to hear and experience the transformative power of the Gospel while being equipped, in very practical ways, to live productive and flourishing lives.
Role of Children’s Ministry Intern:
The Children’s Ministry Intern will work directly with the Children’s Ministry Coordinator. The children’s ministry at BsideU for Life provides free and loving childcare for women who are attending the Life Skills Program. The children are usually between the ages of 6 weeks old – 4 years old, especially during the school year. During the summer there may be older children up to 5th grade. Volunteers from around the city assist with childcare, and the intern will help plan and schedule those volunteers. They will also work directly in the classrooms, providing a safe and nurturing environment for the children. They will assist with lunch and also build relationships with the mothers as they work with their children regularly. Some clients are regular attenders, but some attend more sporadically, so the intern should be prepared to be flexible day to day.
This role is for someone who loves working with children, especially children of inner-city, urban, at-risk families, who is energetic, adaptable, compassionate, patient, and creative.
This role is perfect for someone who is pursuing a career in trauma-informed care, education, children’s ministry, children’s counseling, foster care, or social work.
