This position is through BsideU. BsideU For Life is committed to presenting the gospel of our Lord in word and deed by educating women facing crisis pregnancies, responding to their needs, and protecting the lives of unborn children. They are committed to provide these women with an open heart, an open mind, and an open ear to listen in order to respond to their needs.
They offer Life Skills Education to equip mothers and their children to live Godly and productive lives by sharing God’s word, encouraging Christian life choices, teaching practical living skills, and providing spiritual and emotional support. Their goal is to provide a safe and emotionally supportive place for women to hear and experience the trans-formative power of the Gospel while being equipped, in very practical ways, to live productive and flourishing lives.
Role of Translator/Interpreter:
Intern will assist BsideU staff in any translating needs they may have. Intern will assist staff in translating when clients visit the pregnancy center or attend life skills classes. The greatest need is for Arabic translators but all translators are needed. This position varies greatly each day, sometimes you will be swamped with translation needs and other times you may be assisting with admin tasks in the pregnancy center or life skills classes if no translation needs arise. This will require flexibility.
Responsibilities of Translator/Interpreter:
- translating for pregnancy center clients and/or children
- translating for life skills class clients
- translating for childcare
- doing translation over the phone for prospective clients
- translating for counselors or case manager
- filing paperwork
- assisting clients with homework or paper work
- follow up with clients
- assisting with various tasks if no translation services are needed
- creating a safe, welcoming and caring environment for clients
