About Sojourn Collective

Sojourn Collective is a family of five interdependent local churches who work together for maximum gospel impact in the greater Louisville area. The churches within Sojourn Collective are Sojourn Church Carlisle, Sojourn Church East, Sojourn Church J-Town, Sojourn Church Midtown, and Sojourn Church New Albany. The mission of Sojourn Collective is to reach people with the gospel, build them up as the church, and send them into the world. We exist to magnify the transforming power of the gospel in our members, neighbors, and our world, through vibrant local churches. The Sojourn Collective Support team manages the areas of Finance, Accounting, Communications, Technology, Facilities, and Operations for all of the local churches of Sojourn Collective. 


Role of Finance Intern:

The Finance Intern will assist the Director of Finance with reviewing current accounting and finance processes and with implementing improvements across all processes. They will assist with other general accounting duties as needed, such as reconciliations, transaction entry, and ad-hoc reporting. The finance department of Sojourn Collective has a high level of complexity, due to a unique structure that includes five individual churches of significant size. Therefore, all applicants to the role of Finance Intern will need to submit additional materials in the application process, including a school transcript for their accounting or finance classes, and a reference from an accounting or finance professor. All applicants must have completed at least two semesters of general accounting classes. 

Duties of the Finance Intern: 

  • Audit current policies and procedures of the finance department
  • Assist in creating finance policy and procedure documents
  • Create and design improved reporting for local church pastors and staff
  • Assist accounting staff as requested
  • Assist with month-end close procedures and reconciliations

Additional Materials: 

  • Transcript from college or university, including all finance or accounting classes
  • Reference from a finance or accounting
